Citizens of the great state of Oregon are up in arms on social media over a new law being passed that would allow people to pump their own gas.
The law was passed through the state legislature in May and signed in June, and it will allow people in counties with less than 40,000 residents to pump their own gas, and for some reason, people are really mad about it.
The law started taking effect on January 1st of this new year and in rural parts of Oregon people are very upset about the change. Full service gas stations have been around in Oregon since 1951 and people are not ready for things to change.
A local CBS affiliate in Medford, Ore., asked its viewers on Facebook about the new law – the responses have ranged from anger to confusion.
“I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian…..I say NO THANKS! I don’t want to smell like gasoline!” one woman wrote in a comment on a survey the new station posted Dec. 29.
“It is safer for people, if a station attendant does the service. The only advantage of pumping the gas yourself, would be paying a few cents less a gallon. Getting older, and being disabled, I’d rather have the help!” another person wrote, noting there Student News Agency...

If you thought 2017 was an interesting year in politics, get ready for 2018 because already this year we have had some intense stories and the year is young.
What’s trending in the media now that has people talking and reporters asking Sarah Sanders questions, is the feud between Trump and his former staffer Steve Bannon, and the book that is attempting to get published despite a law suit from Trump that claims that people close to him believe he is mentally unfit for office.
Sanders was asked by a reporter, “What is the president’s reaction of the suggestions in this book that he is mentally unfit?”
Sanders laughed and called the claim and the book “disgraceful and laughable:”
“If [Trump] was unfit, he probably would not be sitting there and would not have defeated the most qualified group of candidates the Republican Party has ever seen. This is an incredibly — strong and good leader, that is why we have had such a successful 2017 and why we are going to continue to do great things as we move forward in the administration.” Said Sanders in response to the question, there was no follow up.

Something Sarah Sanders will sometimes do in her press briefings to mix things up is she will bring in a speaker, typically a member of the administration, who is pushing an agenda item that week, to address the press.
With all the chaos surrounding the White House in the past few days, the press room was anxious to see who Sanders brought in as a speaker. The TV’s behind Sanders then tued on and President Trump was on screen talking about the recent GOP tax bill victory.

A pro-choice student from the University of Knoxville, Tenn said in a video released on Thursday that it’s okay to kill young children because they can’t communicate like adults do.
The unnamed student made the argument that children up to the age of 2 should be able to be killed at the discretion of the parents.
“Without communication, we have no way of knowing if you’re sentient or not,” said the student, referring to killing young children. “It’s no different than this tree. It’s alive. But is it sentient?”
“Can the two year old talk to me?” he added. “Generally speaking, the child still has the inability to communicate.”
“The idea that someone could support infanticide is incredibly disturbing,” Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Yet, it reflects the kinds of attitudes our staff members and students can face on a daily basis on high school and college campuses.”

Keith Ellison, the Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee posted a picture on Twitter of himself posing with a book written by domestic terrorists. If you are unaware of who Antifa is, they are a group that started here in American with the election of Donald Trump, and they are convinced that America is becoming a fascist, totalitarian regime and the only way to stop it is with extreme protesting tactics.
Antifa was responsible for a flop of a protests back in November, where they planned to link liberals from a multitude of cities to aggressively protests and raise awareness that we are living in a fascist society. They had thousands of people ‘signed up’ to show up in cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and others, but on the day of the protest, maybe 100 people showed up.
On that date, Rand Paul, the Republican Senator from Kentucky, was also attacked in him home by a neighbor and it’s still unclear if it was motivated by Antifa or if he was connected to the movement at all.

A 25-year-old Califoia man was arrested in connection to an online quarrel between two online streaming video gamers who play “Call of Duty,” that has lead to one of the gamers being killed in a hoax involving police.
Los Angeles police on Friday arrested Tyler Barriss, who law enforcement claimed is the “prankster” who called 911 and made up a story about a kidnapping in Wichita, ABC 7 reported.
Barriss apparently gave officers what he believed to be the address of the other gamer.
In the audio of the 911 call you hear the caller say that he shot his father in the head and he is holding his mother and brother hostage in the closet with a gun and he is definitely not going to stop unless they send somebody. He also said he pour gasoline all over the house and might set it on fire.

Mike Pence doesn’t get a lot of love for his stance on homosexuality, which is admittedly tough, so it’s not really a huge surprise when you hear that his neighbor’s in Aspen, Colorado hung gay pride flag outside his home.
I guess they thought it was funny? Or maybe they thought it would make Pence reconsider his stance? Pence and his neighbors have a shared driveway, and the neighbors to Pence thought they would hang a little decoration at the end of the shared driveway. The decoration was a rainbow flag with the words “make America gay again.” If you don’t agree with Pence’s stance on homosexuality that’s fine, but you shouldn’t taunt and antagonize him for it.
Pence did’t try to hang a “gay people sin” flag on his neighbor’s driveway, so they shouldn’t post pro homosexuality flags on Pence’s driveway.

Maj. Gen. Ryan Gonsalves, a general in the United States army that was up for promotion, is now facing repercussions for calling a female staffer “sweetheart.”
After an inspector general’s probe into the situation and a report of the findings being reported to the media on Friday, the report concluded that the “preponderance of the evidence” indicated that Gonsalves did in fact refer to the female staffer as “sweetheart.”
As a result of that language, Gonsalves violated Army Command Policy, which says that everybody must be treated with “dignity and respect,” it was recommended that the judge in the ruling take “appropriate action” against the general.
The Army has declined to state what will be happening to Gonsalves in the future. In July, Gonsalves was nominated for a third star, but his nomination was formally withdrawn Nov. 27, after the sweetheart incident.
The report redacts the names of the female staffer, and the 10 others who were in the meeting. A Jewish leader in Germany says that the anti-semitic sentiment in the country has been so strong as of late that police have been called on to protect those participating in public religious events.
Charlotte Knobloch is the former president of the Central Council of Jew in Germany, and he believes it’s becoming more and more dangerous to openly be jewish in Germany, she is claiming that Jewish life can only be practiced openly “in public with police protection and under the most serious security precautions,” according to media reports.
She added, “anti-Semitism [is] in the heart of German society.’’
A video showing a German man berating a Jewish restaurant owner in Berlin has circulated online.
Knobloch said: “The hostility and threats that can be seen in the video are disgusting but not unusual.”
She added, “ ‘Jew’ has once again become an insult in German schoolyards.”
Anti semitism is on the rise in Germany and it’s very conceing. We are all aware of Germany’s sorted past with the Jewish community, and the fact that an anti jewish sentiment is retuing in that country specifically is scary.

A police department in Washington State is engage in a manhunt to a find a certain man that was caught on video in a violent scuffle, but the reason they want to find this man, is to thank him.
Investigator are saying that a stranger helped save the life of an Aberdeen police officer during an arrest and the department has been trying to locate the man to thank him for putting his life on the line to help an officer in need.
The officer tried to arrest a juvenile suspect on an outstanding warrant Wednesday afteoon. When the officer approached the suspect in an effort to arrest him, the suspect said “no,” to which the officer stepped forward and grabbed the boy’s arm and the two hit the ground. As the two were wrestling on the ground, the suspect appeared to pull a knife out of his pocket and the officer was unable to wrestle the knife away.
A cell phone video from an eye witness that is 3 minutes long details the entire event. Police were unsure what would have happened had the good Samaritan not come along and help the officer. During the CNN coverage of the protests in Iran, a corespondent read a statement from the Iranian govement and added that the rest of the world is “frustrated” with the United States, and they believe the U.S. doesn’t have a “moral leg to stand on.”
CNN correspondent Arwa Damon said, “This coming out from the [Iranian] foreign ministry, not only talking about the fact that they view the govement of President Trump as the greatest bearer of ill will towards Iran but going on to say that, ‘The people of Iran give no value or credibility to such opportunistic expressions by the Govement or the person, Mr. Trump. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took some shots at New York Times columnist Paul Krugman for his atrociously terrible prediction that the U.S. economy would never recover from a Donald Trump presidency.
If there was one thing we knew for certain when Donald Trump was taking office, it’s that markets were going to climb. Trump is primarily a business man and knows that less regulations in the business world makes for better competition and better business, so that’s exactly what happened. Trump becomes president, less regulations in business, markets soar year 1.
Sanders referenced Krugman’s Nov 9, 2016 declaration that “if the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never.” The Nobel Prize-winning economist continued “under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news. Senator John McCain from Arizona has been in the hospital the last week suffering from brain cancer but we are now receiving some positive news about his status.
“Senator McCain is in rehab. He’s coming back in January, (and) we need his voice now more than ever,” Sen. Lindsey Graham said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” in response to a question about the 81-year-old Arizona Republican’s condition.
The aggressive form of brain cancer McCain has been battling is called glioblastoma, it is known to be very fatal. He recently was hospitalized in Bethesda, Maryland for a viral infection and other side effects he was reportedly suffering from due to the intense chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
Graham, R-S.C., did not elaborate on his response, which echoed previous Idea made by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey.
McCain’s office hasn’t released public information about his health since Dec. 17th, when it confirmed McCain had been discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and retued to Arizona for physical therapy and rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic.
